| Gregg Allman – Multi-Colored Lady Lyrics | 2 years ago |
| @[WallyCharlie:49260] Hey, thanks for your insightful take on this beautiful song. I’ve had the album since it came out in…’72? and have listened to it 100 times. Of course Gregg vocals are not always clear and I was under the impression until now that the broken-hearted bride asked the way to Descroix (?) or some other southern town I’m not familiar with. When I saw today that it was Death Row, I thought somebody got it wrong and looked up every lyrics quoter I could find. All the same. I always thought she was so sad because she’d been left at the altar, and your answer is still true, but much deeper in its sadness. I am your age and still working at a Costco. I have a new coworker in my dept. Who is half my age, and in our work conversations she shared that she lost her own father suddenly and tragically ten years ago and still hasn’t gotten over it. She shared with me she now had his car, and with it the six CDs that were in the changer when he left this world. I asked her if she recalled the CDs and only said he loved the Allman Brothers. Today, her birthday, I burned a Cd for her with many of my own favorite Allman tunes, including this one. Maybe that holds a whole new meaning now. I think her dad would be pleased she still loves the music he loved. God bless from Oregon | |
