| Whilst this is a really good song, it's actually one long, extremely unsubtle, tirade against David Bowie. Pretty well every line lays into him, obvious examples include "Genocidal tendencies" (Diamond Dogs) to "Time" (Aladdin Sane). Why exactly he did this isn't clear, as Bowie saved Mott the Hoople, enabling Ian Hunter to have a long and successful career. One possibility is Bowie's tendency to pick people up, and then drop them when he got bored with them. Iggy Pop, another singer whose career was saved by Bowie, is another example - Pop has often been rude about his one-time saviour. | |
