lots of notes for this one, but hell its just that damn good. this song reads like this to me: there's signs everywhere that his girlfriend is cheating on him. hence she is screaming out her infidelity. he looks around their place and sees all the signs of their relationship, her hair, her notes, and he feels real depressed about it. him knowing or suspecting that she is cheating on him grinds him down (taking its wear). it's simply a song of lonliness, fear and sadness. it's simple and thats why it touches people so well. anyone who has been through a bad breakup or been cheated on can relate to it as it's message is so clear. its goddamn tear-wrenchingly beautiful. |

this is about as angry the incubii boys get outside of blood on the ground. fantastic song. pacy, lively, subversive. mournful even. its one of the only times that you feel that brandon is disappointed and there might not be hope. and he isn't smiling about anything. a state of unhappiness to the point that you just want to burn the world in a crucible and start afresh from people's mindless games, as the song goes.

i agree with t'other comment. its about taking stock and appreciating. slowing down (see first line) and savouring the time, as if the tide is going to reel in again as quick as it came. but also a look to the future with anticipation, not a look back, maybe even a change of what you can expect. its just a fitting meaning for the final track on a great album. |

its a calmy reassuring song. builds to an optomistic climax despite it's depressing image to many people. i think it's a beautiful song, a fine point on one of the finest albums ever made. |

maybe its something about coming to terms with something. the chorus inviting the idea that it is a woman who has to be given space, which is echoed in the lines about an alternative place where the narrator will be staying. the irony in the lines about dr seuss, nescafe and the like being substantial are great. the use of images about cartoons seems to put the relationship in a context and has a complaint to it, about how life isn't a game and not a joke. far more complicated. the snake is an obvious reference to women, as they are venemous (joke).
