Thanks to mikeydhh for the lyrics in the first part: they're unfortunately purposely buried in the mix. I don't know why. But I do know this story which decodes the lyrics starting: "Where was your word - where did you go? Where was your helping - why did you go? Dull is the armor, cold is the day Hard was the journey, dark was the way I heard the word I couldn't stay I couldn't stand it another day Another day Touched by the timely coming, Roused from the keeper's sleep, Release the grip, throw down the key. Held now within the knowing, Rest now within the peace. Take of the fruit, but guard the seed." Don't know the year, but probably late 70's, Plant, Page and Grant are in the US, maybe LA? They've got a lot of drugs. Plant gets word his son is sick back in the UK. He's heading back, expecting Page to go with him, but Page wants to stay and do the drugs. Plant feels let down. The lyric "Where was your word, where did you go?" is a kind of inversion, as Page didn't "go" anywhere - Plant had to go. But it rhymes with this gem of lyric: "Where was your helping, where was your bow?" That's Plant referring to Page, who'd used a violin bow on his guitar. The last part about guarding the seed refers to Plant's likely unfounded guilt that his use of drugs such as LSD (which was somehow alleged to alter one's DNA) may have passed something bad on to his son. I do not know about his son's health history. |

| Ween – Cover It With Gas And Set It On Fire Lyrics | 2 years ago |

I've never heard of a "gand raid". The "cover it with gas and set it on fire!" refers to the victim. One of Ween's most dark browns. |

See, Captain Fantasy is never together with who he's talking to. He is kind of just an idea - a Fantasy. Note the key lines: "You could be with me" "And when I'm there, I'm here And when you're near, I'm there" This makes "I'm there" equal (logically speaking!) to "I'm here" So even when "you're near" - that's the closest you'll get to Captain Fantasy. |

| Grateful Dead – Tennessee Jed Lyrics | 2 years ago |

The first line - "Cold iron shackles - ball and chain" - are on the narrator's leg. In the chorus, he's asking to be carried back to Tennessee because he can't walk there. |

| Grateful Dead – Row Jimmy Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
First verse is magical childhood. The narrator witnessed it. Took me years to realize the rabbit's "stepping like to walk on air". Second's got Julie "at the levee", more beautiful imagery. The chorus "Row - Jimmy Row!" is an exhortation. They're in danger of drowning. Maybe the levee broke, and they (perhaps just Julie and the narrator) are in a rowboat. The third verse's broken heart is the narrator's. Maybe Julie drowned. Maybe they both made it. Jimmy saved them? FACT: Jerry was asked what his favorite song to play with the Dead was and he said "Row Jimmy". |
