Growing up and wondering when she has to face reality. There are big decisions to be made, but for now all she wants is the comfort and security of home. Its very desperate. |

| Mitski – Strawberry Blond Lyrics
|
From what I can gather, Strawberry Blonde is about jealousy, specifically towards a "strawberry blonde", a white girl. As much as she loves this person she can't seem to be completely happy with herself or enjoy her time with this person fully, watching this person and saying "I love it when you look my way/call my name" but also "all I ever wanted was a life in your shape- I picture it soft and I ache"
I like the Juxtaposition of soft and ache in the same sentence.
The upbeat tempo is slowed towards the end of the song, with Mitski longfully singing "isaiah", exposing her vunerability that was originally half hidden behind a upbeat song and lyrics with an undertone of sadness. |

| Mitski – Once More to See You Lyrics

"Once More To See You" is seemingly about a hidden relationship. She talks about her discomfort with the eyes of people around her, having to keep this relationship hidden and wanting nothin more than to see them again, but the other person seems slightly apprehensive. |

| Mitski – I Will Lyrics

There is no "you" in this song. Mitski wrote this to herself, saying that the lyrics are all the things she wishes someone would say to her. When performing this live she says "I hope you hear something you want to hear in this song". |

| Mitski – Drunk Walk Home Lyrics
|
The start of the song maybe refers to her frustration. She keeps working and it seems life is all about making money. "I will retire to the Salton Sea": the Salton sea is toxic, riddled with pesticides and unsafe to swim in, yet despite it's toxic state, its better to retire there young than working away at a normal corporate job. She will never be free, so she might as well decay beside the Salton Sea.
The second half is a definite reference to her frustration, trying to find freedom in night life, she's left abandoned on the side of the street despite having dressed up specifically for this occasion. Having her romantic advances rejected, she has nothing more to do than look into the night, screaming out of frustration. At its core, Drunk Walk Home is all about rejection. |

| TV Girl – Louise Lyrics

|
The lead singer sometimes explains the story behind Louise before he plays it. Its based off real people he met and it centres around a French model who is caught in a love triangle with two photographers. She quickly finds out that neither of them love her, oblivious to the fact because "Louise never learned about puppy love, cause they don't know that term in France" and "she could catch anybody's attention but it never won her friends". |
