Not that this applies to this specific song but since the early 2000's(after Dave got saved in '02, David Ellifson(drummer) was already saved) Megadeth has had lots of Christian influence in the lyrics and imagery. And they got their first grammy after this change too. Made Megadeth even better for me. |

But my opinion is this song is about an abusive father abusing(who coulda guessed lol) his son. Just my opinion though. |

But my favorite part about seeing this song live not that long ago is what James said at the end "The Day That Never Comes, it just came." which I loved because seeing as how both my parents hate Metallica I thought I would never get to see them live, but I did! Twice! Friday and Sunday! |

So it's not a song about loving God but it's not against it either. It's against the idol "god" of christian science. |

The "god" of christian science is not the same as the God of actual Christianity, and christian science is a religion while Christianity is not(at least in my Christian opinion.) So the god that failed is not The Lord God of Christianity but the fake idol "god" of christian science. |

It's Heaven or Hell, and paying a preacher money doesn't make you go to Heaven, it's a choice of faith. |

@[abusingeddie:48876] A. I get it if you don't like the song because of it's lyrics(I'm Christian BTW) B. Do you know how many bands sound exactly like each other? I really like this song and like Radiohead is well. One of my favorite Christian metal albums Human Sacrifice by Vengeance Rising sounds a lot like Slayer, and the music I write is very similar to mid to late 80's Metallica. (Haven't recorded or put anything online yet so you can't listen to it) |

@[godOfNothing:48875] Just want to say something, as a believer, if we both die and there is no God, then we will meet the same fate, but if we both die and there is God, then I will spend eternity in Heaven(and later New Earth) and it'll be perfect with no sin, pain, or death, but you'll be trapped in Hell for all eternity suffering. Just giving you another way to look at it. |

To me it sounds like(not making an accusation just piecing together the pieces I have) that you were a believer but had a bad experience that made you hate and not want to believe in God. Let me tell you, bad experiences aren't Gods fault, it's Satan's. He wants you to turn away from God and he will do whatever he can to make it happen. Also if you believe He is real and are scared of Hell, why not want to believe? If God is real(which he is) then everyone that doesn't believe in Him or doesn't want to believe in Him well go to Hell and spend eternity suffering, but if there isn't a God and it's just poof gone when we die, then believers will meet the same fate as non-believers. So either way believers will be fine, non-believers however may not be. |

@[lookslikeiwin:48873] Ok ok.(Coming from a born again Christian) God gave us a choice yes, he gave Adam and Eve a very simple instruction not to eat from the tree of Knowledge Of Good And Evil. However, God didn't make Lucifer(Satan) to be the "bad guy", he was God's right hand angel, second in command over everything, but he wanted to be God, so he was banished from Heaven into Hell and became Satan. One part that people forget is that God never gets mad at Satan or anything, he loves Satan and is sad about what happened. So God didn't have to make Satan. |

I'm Christian and still love this song. To me I see not as the thoughts of an atheist when they are dying, but the thoughts of a Christian(believer) who is seeing an atheist die, most likely a friend. My step-grandpa is an awesome guy and was once a pastor(and was still Christian when he married my grandma) but some bad things happened and he is now an atheist who doesn't believe in absolute truth. And to all you out there with that mindset, you can make weird excuses like if someone asked you "Does one plus one always equal two?" and you said "No, one cloud plus one cloud equals one." Let me ask you this, is it absolutely true that there is no absolute truth?(mic drop) |

Because both would make sense, if it was the Atheist then the believer would be scared that they will never see them again. |

@[bmx3r101:48871] Yes FistMountain is correct. If you are atheist(praying for you) then it makes complete sense why you would get the hell scared out of you about dying, to you that's just it. However it's not, I can't control what you believe but the only person I want to see stay in Hell for all of eternity is Lucifer himself, and all his devils. Now I know not every person in the world will be saved but it is the mission of Christians to disciple as many people as we can and lead people to The Lord God. |

Metallica has quite a few Christian inspired songs, Four Horseman(originally written as The Mechanix by Dave Mustaine), Creeping Death, Leper Messiah(which is about fake “Christians”, specifically televangelists using lies and deceit to fleece their “flock" for donations, "Give me money give me green heaven you will meet, make a contribution and you'll get the better seat, bow to Leper Messiah"), To Live Is To Die(well kinda, this song is mostly instrumental but there is some spoken words that say "When a man lies he murders some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear to witness any longer
Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home" also best Metallica instrumental.) The Judas Kiss(this song is really just about betrayal in general but The Judas Kiss is a reference to Jesus disciple Judas who betrayed him with a kiss.), Lux AEterna(this song is based on an old hymn but the line "Cast out the demons that strangle your life" has always stood out and spoke to me.) And that is all that I could find, but that is one song from each of the first four albums plus Death Magnetic and 72 Seasons.) |

@[FoRwHoMtHeBeLlToLlS:48868] It could just be a different translation then the one you were looking at, example: 2nd Timothy 1:7 NKJV(New King James Version), For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2nd Timothy 1:7 ESV(English Standard Version), for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. If I had to guess without any research this song probably used the King James Version. |

@[animal:48866] Just because Anthrax isn't a Christian band(even though one member actually is) that doesn't mean their songs can't be Christian inspired. Here are some examples of non-christian bands having Christian inspired lyrics, Creeping Death by Metallica(it's about Moses and the Ten Plagues on Egypt), Shadow Of Deth by Megadeth(it is literally just Psalm 23 word for word, I don't know what bible translation though, most likely King James.) And everyone can think whatever they want about any song. Also you saying "all it's really about is someone finding solace in someone (or something) else that has always been there and has rarely let him down when he needs them the most. Most of us have our safe home.. the song is perfectly straight-forward." that is The Lord God, except he never lets me down. And you're just trying to prove them wrong because you're not Christian. |

@[No1408:48865] I agree. While Anthrax is not a Christian band they're still amazing and everyone sees lyrics(and everything in general) differently. And non-christian bands have a lot of songs directly relating to Christianity, Creeping Death by Metallica, Shadow Of Deth by Megadeth is literally just a psalm(David Ellefson and Dave Mustaine are both Christian). |
