| The Guess Who – Rain Dance Lyrics

In an article in Circus magazine in 1971 or possibly early 1972 (I wish I still had it), Kurt Winter explains that he saw his neighbor (presumably named 'John') walking around with a gun and just asked him where he got it. It's not supposed to mean anything in particular, just an ironic or whimsical line. The gun was most likely a hunting rifle and in those days would not cause alarm. |

| The Guess Who – Samantha's Living Room Lyrics

It's probably saying that things change but stay the same. We don't know who Samantha is except that she's probably not anyone else mentioned in the song. Maybe she's the family's little girl in 1921, baby's older sister. In 1981 she is in her 60s or 70s and observing the same scene. Or perhaps other people now live in the house, but the same things play out 60 years later. |

I thought she meant she was going to literally dress up some handsome but homeless bum to make him presentable enough to take her out. That would have made a great video. |

The Green Circles guy is a guru/mystic, like the Moody Blues' Melancholy Man. If I had money enough to do this I'd be just like him. |

The guy was living far from his home, in London or maybe somewhere in America. He got homesick and wanted to be back with people he knew and understood, who would be happy to see him again. There are many songs like this. |
