The song is about the biblical verses about the time when Lucifer / Satan / the devil will be given free reign over the earth, before the end times. Lucifer is the "angel of light", as the name suggesrts. The narrative builds up to the dark times the world goes through, until after the solo and the build-up leading to "To fly, to fly". From this point on, the lyrics are about the second coming of Jesus and about Satan's armies and power being destroyed by Jesus / God ("king of kings"), with Satan "dying" by the "roar of the lamb". In case someone is still not following, the lamb is Jesus. It's a pretty weird song to come out of the band, given their later very unchristian lyrics in a bunch of places, but a beautiful and powerful one nonetheless.. |
