Oh I just want to add that I'm sure Chino didn't hate Chi for any of it but he must've struggled with the thoughts creeping into his mind. And this song is just a form of creative expression to release those types of thoughts. |

@[wolfchun:48766] wow so the way u broke that down is pretty incredible! I offer a 3rd scenario, as I recently saw an interview where someone said that every song on this album is actually all about Chi Cheng being in a coma and what Chino was struggling with internally and even externally as his friend and band mate, lie in a coma right after the White Pony album catapulted them into stardom. So when I add that context to your breakdown I am like completely taken aback at how much it makes sense. "The title, in context with the lyrics, refers to someone(Chino) fighting for the future of a decaying link between two parties. (Chino & Chi) The other party (Chi) is to blame for this decay it seems,(getting into the accident that landed him in a coma) as Chino jumps between the internal world of the other (wondering what Chi is going thru) and himself he comes to this conclusion. He's wistful. He's angry that the other (Chi) is destroying it all. He starts to resent Chj, hate him even, and he wishes to "let go" of all this enmity. He wants to break through the membrane of silence and emptiness (Chi was in a coma for 5 long years) and go back to how things were, or at least ruminate on the past with the other to salvage whatever they can from the wreckage and rebuild. Thus, fighting for a future." Which cant ever be done because he his heart stopped after being in that coma for 5 years.
I mean they didn't even release the songs from the album they were working on Eros when Chi got in the accident. So imagine the hope for 5 years that he would come out of it and then he didn't. That would be boggling and so painful. So wow wolfchun thank u for the way u broke down the lyrics because I think u hit it right on the nose. Very impressive. |

Like the arrows being hurled at the guy running aren't from actual enemies....they are from the girl that loves him or thinks she does. I dunno that just made a lot of sense to me tho. Thanks! |
