| i was in mogadishu when this song came out, my boyfriend had been killed by a drunk driver in 87, we were 17 when i lost him. i never got to say good-bye to him and he was the love of my life. when i heard this song 5 years later, it was like being hit by a bullet to the heart (still wish i had been). i went into combat 4 days later with the lyrics and memories echoing in my head the whole time, how i didn't get myself or anyone on my team killed i'll never know. now, 36 years later, it's still an up-hill battle to move on, those feelings and love and memories never really go away, they just become less controlling. | |
