I say it was a one-sided relationship, where the guy was always kept in the dark and at arm's length because she never let him get close enough, and she was just using him. He never had a clue she was out doing her thing on the side and she didn't share her feelings when she was with him. And he finds out she's been running around with another guy and she's not hiding it, and he pleaded with her to save it so she still strings him along. He's freakin out and the world/TV just reminds him of stuff, but he still would take her back. Then, he gives up. Some time passes, and she thinks she can come back, and that's when he drops HIS bomb on her. Two can play at that game, babe. All her friends saw what she was doing to him, they felt awful and knew he was a great guy and so one by one they nailed him. And when she ties to come back to him, he's ove her. He's happy to have given her a dose of her own medicine. Now SHE is the last to know and left wondering what he really did, and if her other guy is also off cheating on her, because she deserves it. So at the end, SHE's the one singing 'Don't let me be the last to know.' This is how I pictured it, the very first time I heard it.
