| My guess this is about RS relationship with long time friend and band member Lol Tolhurst whom he sacked 1989 for drinking problems. Lol sued RS in 1991 for royalties and lost. I believe they're on somewhat speaking terms now, but their relationship was sour for a long time. | |

If you look at the lyrics of "Strange attraction" and compare to "Jupiter Crash", I do believe they're about the same thing. The same girl as in "SA" is here drawn to Robert. She's the comet and Robert is Jupiter: "The incoming comet brushes Jupiter's face" They meet and then she gets disappointed: "was that it? was that the Jupiter show? Kinda wasn't quite what I'd hoped for, you know". She withdraws: "Yeah, that was it That was the Jupiter crash Drawn too close and gone in a flash." The following could mean a physical encounter, or an emotional one: "Just a few bruises in the region of the splash." She leaves, or drifts away just like in "Strange attraction": "She left to the sound of the sea She just drifted away from me." It doesn't matter that he's a famous rockstar: "So much for gravity" I'll eat my hat if this isn't about the same girl as in Strange Attraction. My guess is Robert actually got a serious crush on her. Very beautiful lyrics and Robert should get the Nobel Prize in literature if you ask me, he's magnificent. |
