Okay, hear me out, and this is a hot take. Some people think this song is anti-Christianity. I highly disagree, in fact, I think it is a song against the leftist religion, the woke religion, in other words.. cancel culture. Hear me out for this okay. I'll explain this line by line. "I'm the great Leviathan, insatiable colossus" - This line describes how massive and influential cancel culture has gotten. You cannot satisfy them, nothing you do will. "Titanic engulfer of lives, I reward you, absorb you" - They reward you for doing what they want, they absorb your life, make you change the way you speak with their "inclusive" language. They ruin people's lives, causing them to lose their jobs over opinions. "I'm the monstrous mouth that hungers for your awe" - Similar to the last line, this woke mob hungers, which is the monstrous mouth, hungers for your compliant respect, doesn't allow you to have your own opinion. "Immense construction of lies, I own you disown you" This line refers to how it's really all a lie, but it's a massive tower of lies that need each other to avoid being disproven. The mob owns you and disowns you, I believe this is similar to how many people on their side have been "disowned" because they said one thing that offended them. Take Dave Chapelle for an example - he criticized transgenderism and was "disowned" by the mob. The guy is a leftist himself! "I am life. I am death. You empower me." Yup, this one is pretty self explanatory. The mob is both death and life, it may bring temporary positivity to individuals but causes death to the world. You empower this mob by going along with it, by complying with their ideas. "I'm a mammoth king evoked, conjured by your dreams Summoned by your fears. You need me, you feed me" - You fear the mob because it could ruin your life. But you need the mob. The place which you work may be part of the mob, in agreement with the mob. You feed the mob when you buy or work at certain places. "I'm the imposing giant. Infallible dictator My rules apply to all. You'll heed me, bleed for me" - The "giant" is like a dictator, forcing rules on all and if you have a different idea you are punished for it. The rules apply to all, for example, you must use the preferred pronouns of delusional folks. You must get vaccinated. You must obey these rules. Some go along with it, therefore "bleeding" for the mob. "I am life. I'm death. I decide your fate You empower me. You'd even kill for me" - The mob decides your fate. They would dance on your grave for having opinions that are not theirs. Again, you empower the mob. You would KILL for the mob. A man was killed for using a racial slur - he shouldn't have used the word, but he was KILLED for it. There was an innocent man working on a mailbox who was killed for being white. Many big voices on the opposing side receive death threats from the woke mob. "Guzzling down your dreams - the tears of unheard pleas I drink, Imbibe with such delight the fear that floods your temporal shell" - Your dreams are destroyed by the mob. Your future is severed because you may have said something a decade ago online that they didn't like. They drink your tears and when you apologize, they just ignore you. Your apology does not satisfy them. You are filled with constant fear, that you may lose everything while doing nothing. "Raging red rivers and streams - the kingdom of my shadow Where dread of man in endless night revives my every cell" - This one is pretty self-explanatory and needs no further analyzation. The endless night is the constant belief in leftism in the mainstream. "To those who doubt - your wounds will never heal To those who question my creation - I'm not real" - If you doubt the woke mob's ideas even a little, your wounds will never heal. You will carry this burden for the rest of your life. You hurt someone's feelings, so your life is ruined. To those who question leftism, the ideas aren't even real. A man can't be a woman, etc. It just makes no sense, it's made-up, it's not real. But you better not question leftism. "I am pain. I am grief. I'm the things you fear I'm the lie whispered into your ear" - This analyzation is tiring! Anyway, leftism is rooted in pain and grief. If you aren't minority everything, you should loathe yourself. If you are even a little bit white, if you're straight, if you're "cisgender" (made-up concept), if you're a man, a Christian, anything that they don't like, they think you should hate yourself. For anyone who actually loathes themselves for being any of these things, please don't. You're special in your own way and you shouldn't hate yourself. Anyway, back to analyzing the lyrics. Leftism is a lie whispered into your ear. It's sketchy, it's whispered, a lie, but many still believe it. "I'm the great Leviathan. I'm dominance and greed You imagined me, so I was conceived" - The leftist woke mob is dominance, it is greed. It wants to dominate the world. Someone imagined these things, and now it's mainstream. Leftist beliefs are imagined, not real. "I am life. I'm death. You belong to me Call me what I am. I am colossus." The mob owns you. It engulfs everything in its path. It takes up the world. That was a long analyzation... I know it went pretty far and I would love to engage with those who disagree with me. If you are on the left, I am not against you. I just want to have a civilized conversation. Love you all! |

| Meshuggah – Behind The Sun Lyrics | 2 years ago |
| This song is COMPLETELY based on something in history that happened called the "Divine Right of Kings." It's not an anti-religion song, people just don't think deeply about aggressive songs and immediately assume that they are anti-religion. In my opinion, there is no anti-religious Meshuggah song, people just jump to this conclusion. Anyway, let's get to this "divine right of kings" thing. It was basically where monarchs (a word used in the lyrics!) claimed the "stern voice of God." They used this power because if someone disagreed with them, it was considered blasphemy and the one who disagreed could be killed for it. It was basically a move to gain a bunch of power, even though many of these monarchs were ungodly. It's just a song explaining the atrocities committed by these monarchs, "men of dominance." Because of their "divine right," they claimed their authority was given to them by God, but this was just so they aren't held accountable. for their actions. Some parts of the song could refer to government as a whole and how corrupted it can be. Notice how the song acknowledges the existence and power of God, proving that it isn't anti-religion, in this line: "Divine man. Appointed. Claiming the stern voice of God." He is claiming the voice of God, but is not God Himself. Let me know if this comment made any sense and share your thoughts with me, I'd love to have some kind of debate with someone who disagrees! | |
