This song targets my heart & soul. It's a beautiful song, but OTOH it always brings me to tears because it describes what I've been through in my life as I searched for my soul mate. Not once, but twice in my life, I met a woman that I felt love for deep into my soul. In both cases, I did what I thought was the "right thing" and I dated the woman for a year. After that year I decided to propose. It almost crushed me when she said no. But I picked myself up & moved on with my life. Only to meet another woman that I would fall deeply in love with. Again, I dated her for a year and put all kinds of energy & love into the relationship. Only to have the exact same thing happen to me again when I went to propose. "I don't pretend to know what you want." Today I am 59 years old, and still alone. I still enjoy this song because it describes my life path of seeking a loving relationship. It may bring out my sad emotions, but at the same time I know "I offer love." Thanks for this song, Neil. |
