@[Harpdude:47633] the song was written in 1965 and I would be surprised if this was the case - I don’t believe those issues were as prominent then as they are now for most people. But the true brilliance of any art is its openness to interpretation IMO and yours adds an interesting twist, given more recent cultural changes. |

@[mpalmer:47632] Your original post is a dozen years old and it still stands as the best interpretation of this song I’ve ever been able to find. I have been coming back to this post periodically for so long that I finally made an account, just to say THANK YOU and maybe bump this post up a tiny bit for the next Googler wondering where exactly to find Desolation Row. Whether the original poster @[mpalmer:47632] still around or alive or possibly Nobel laureate Bob Dylan himself is irrelevant to the depth and insight of this post - from an old hippie type who’s been listening to this song for decades. |
