@[donutbandit:48297] I wouldn’t call this song a ballad & although Randy wrote this song alone most of the Guess Who’s music was written by Randy AND Burton. After Randy left Kurt Winter joined the band & he & Burton wrote A LOT of good songs. Apparently you didn’t listen to them after Randy left because they still had several great songs afterwards & the band became a bit more hard rocking. I loved a LOT of their stuff just as much if not more after Randy left. |

So I saw an interview with Burton Cummings & he said way back when this song was written that when the band was traveling from the US back to Canada that all these hunters were coming to Canada from the US to hunt game in Canada & back then the airlines would just let the hunters come on the planes just carrying their rifles & such & let the hunters just pile them up
at the front of the plane. It upset him that these people were just allowed to go into Canada with their guns & basically take the resources of Canada with zero regard to what they were doing to “Mother Nature”. That’s why he wrote this song. |
