Bombay Bicycle Club – You Already Know Lyrics 2 years ago
The lyrics seems to be very versatile to the listener. It can definitely be translated literally or can also be viewed as the kind of love that was bound not to last. I think that’s why it’s such a good song. It’s a love song that speaks of an ending. I’d like to try and give it an interpretation that is different from what was already said in the comments.

“The moment we forgot we were just good friends.” — right from the start, it speaks of some misalignment from their present reality. Both of them could be thinking of how things started between them.

“I moved my arm her face went red again.” — An action that brought them back in reality. A type of reaction from what they were thinking about but it shows that they still have love for each other.

“One more bus home, another silent weekend.” — Things are more complicated than it is for them once they are alone in their home.

“You said love was painted gold, but like all things growing old. The paint peels and slowly falls.” — Like all relationships, the beginning will always give the people in it the high of being in love. It feels like the sun is shining through your face. The way that you would see gold. But in time, the high goes low. It becomes the plateaued kind of love or just falling out of love.

“You already know x3. Looking out the glass so we sit together.” — They both know what is happening in the relationship and where it’s going.

“We both know we could be someone better. But not with our heads like London weather.” — They can try to save the relationship and change but with how they are and how they are affecting each other, it doesn’t seem to be in the options.

It’s a song that speaks of what is unsaid and how it lingerings in the air.
