The beauty of music is that everyone interprets it differently! I know that a lot of people consider this song to be about a man who is going back to his family after a dirty affair. Or the life of Casey Jones. But, I have a different interpretation that varies from both of these. I feel that Casey is a man who is reminiscing of a lover from times past! No cheating, nothing recent, just memories of a lover from long ago. Casey has consistently thought of this woman so much to the point where he begins to fantasize her talking to him. Casey has let these memories come to life in his head to the point that it’s almost like she’s apart of his consciousness. Though, he eventually he realizes that he needs to let this memory of an old lover go. These memories/fantasies lash out to him and beg him not to forget. I feel that throughout the song the somber tune/setting of drinking, walking with chains, basically just shuffling through life are just him dealing with the loss of this memory (more like fantasy) he has created in his head of his old lover. |

The beauty of music is that everyone interprets it differently! For me, “Alone Again Or” is about a person who is in search of love, not necessarily from a single person but in general terms they’re looking for love. Maybe they find many women lovable but are too afraid to initiate anything with them. Even to the point where his friends tell him that he can be in love with almost everyone and his response is that he thinks people are the greatest fun. Ultimately, I think it can be summed up to a man who maybe is a very sociable person but is not necessarily good with women, he often fantasies about possible relationships with many different women. Though, regardless of the anxiety/day dreams he has regarding these women he is okay with being alone…or maybe he won’t won’t be! He remains optimistic for love whilst accepting it’s okay to be alone. |

The beauty of music is that each person who listen’s interprets the song differently! When I was younger, I always thought the song “April Come She Will” was a song of hope and yearning for love! I was always searching for my “April”. I interpreted each month referenced as a personification of a different girl. Having had girls in my life who fit the lyrics for each month It wasn’t until I was older and truly experienced heartbreak did I realize that the song was about a single girl! Maybe I was naive and hopeful in my younger years of love, but unfortunately I have met a handful of women who have fit the role of “April”. |
