So it really has no meaning, but in my head I drew a conclusion out of the song. Here's the meaning I made out of it. The song is about renewal . The verses: "Call out what we've become The news have turned to numb" -Meaning the MC is self aware of the depressing situation they put themselves in. "Locked in near sight on the latest device" -the MC is focused on their addictions and bad habits. "Let the yet-to-be pick up the tab" -meaning MC's "yet -to-be" probably a fiancé or something, is roped into their lover's self destructive habits. "Say we can't escape, though there is plenty of space" -the MC justifying their actions "Barring holding on to what we used to have" - means holding on to the past, maybe the MC had success in the past and is riding on their past successes. "So get it in your head Where were headed you gotta Let it all die let me go" -Means to let go of your old self and move forward. "Lay it out on the map Debate it all in caps Lock out eyes on distant horizons Where we will shift to some informed accord" - the plan for renewal. "In another town settle up settle down" -means getting used to a change of pace "We insist on the option or we're out the door" -change is the only option for renewal. "Gone it's gone Gave in again, now let me go" -the character gives into old habits again "Maybe this is a test, Maybe this is a course correction Oh, I said it oh no don't let it get out of control" - it's the character giving themself a greater sense of meaning or purpose to drive them forward. "In your head where were headed We gotta let it on by, let me go And get in in your head where we're headed You gotta let it all die, let me go" -this voice is the voice of reasoning trying to move you forward. "This hope it begins to know, We could return again don't let me go I get it in my heart, I know we could restart We can begin again, don't let me go" -this is the voice of habit trying to get you back to your bad habits. "Gone it's gone, return again Don't let me go, gone it's gone Begin again don't let me go" - this is the voice of weakness, controlled by emotion. It is the urge to excuse yourself from choosing not to move on with your life. In the end where all the voices chant their lines to the main character. Which one will have the most influence? |
