This song means a lot. I believe it’s about a deep friendship between two Individuals that ended with one of them passing away. The death was very sudden and painful (suicide) and it made the friend who survived not able to talk about their grief for awhile. That’s why they say it’s been a long year since they last spoke. The friend is talking to the one who passed away and wonders how they’ve been. They admit that they feel so far away from them and tell them that they never wanted to believe that they would leave them. They question what did they miss as in what warning signs they could have seen and how they could have prevented this tragedy. They wonder if their friend is lonely and they wonder if they get homesick and miss them back. The friend admits that this death is something they’ve struggled with accepting and still can’t get used too. No matter how hard they try and move on they keep getting taken back to the night their friend passed away. They’re under the same night and same stars. They think back about the memories they shared with this friend who passed and miss the comfort of their presence. They wonder if they could’ve saved this friend or if that would have even been what they wanted. Although this year has been so painful for this friend they admit that they will now do what they know their friend can’t. They want their friend that they’re sorry that this happened and they’re sorry that they couldn’t fix their pain or make them stay. But they know their friend can’t forgive them because they’re not here anymore. So they want their friend to know that they forgive them for hurting them by taking their life. They forgive them for blue skies. As in they let them go and forgive them for peace. This song is emotional because it’ describes the process of someone coming to terms with the death of someone they really loved. They learn that in order for them to see blue skies they have to forgive and let go. The singer isn’t really forgiving the person for dying. They’re really forgiving themselves for not being able to stop this for happening. |

this song is so beautiful. To me it describes a relationship where the guy is too busy for a girl and he always tells her he has no time for her. He’s so preoccupied in his own life he doesn’t realize how much she cares for her. So she realizes she has to “go her own way”. She’s sad but He tells her it’s just how life is and there’s other priorities he has to make time for. And although she loves him so much she can hardly breathe without him she learns that she has to move on and eventually she is the one that has no time for him in her life anymore. Eventually time passes and he finds himself alone. He remembers the day he met her and although he tries and puts the memories aside he cannot dissolve them. But now she has no more time for him…. |
