| My "commment" is: As I post this, this song has 71 entries, and the rest of The Church songs have zero, one or maybe a small handful. "Under the Milky Way" is an OK song but they have so many that are better, just like they have so many albums better than "Starfish". I suppose it's like this with many artists, one popular song or album explodes in popularity and it blocks peoples views of their other notable and possibly better works. Just kind of a shame, that's all. | |

| One of my favorite Church songs. Perhaps about a prostitute who sometimes becomes more emotionally involved with some of her clients than she should (or at least fooling the clients into think so?). Steve's lyrics tend to often be (intentionally?) vague, but that's my take on it. | |

While I can't say I think I have figured out the entire meaning to this song, these lines to me clearly indicate the "You" indicate Jesus Christ: "After thousands of years Our priests have predicted you would come You with your death that appears in no photograph You watch the night sky We bickered like fools amongst ourselves We sought protection in artificial youth" |

I think this one is fairly simple. "Of the little girls and boys, they remind me of a child That I knew" is the author remembering himself as a child. Recalling happier, simpler times with family...wishing we could go back and re-live our childhoods, especially in light of "When the world gets too heavy and the shadows cross my mind". "And I need to be there". Yes, indeed. |
