It sounds like they are trying to cheer or lift them up and say 'forget it, it doesn't matter, come with us'. This song also reminds me of the one person who is ruining the party or the night, because they are down, and everyone is coming together to pull them onto the dance floor, but they keep resisting and sitting back down. The message of the song could be that once you're friends with someone you're stuck with them for life, and they will tell you the good and the ugly, you can be yourself, they will show you yourself, weither you like it or not. |

I think this song may be about hightened sense during and in the face of death during war, which may feel like a machine, and prehaps the thoughts of a solider who may be counted as a disciple of death. Alternatively, the 'diamond star' may be the narrator turning a bullet into something desirable or something attractive, easy to look at or be dazzled. This is another cryptic song on this album with a really deep, groovy bass line. |

These lyrics could be interpretated in many ways, Nite Flights is mostly seen as poltical/topical album and den haague translated to 'The Hague' is a city in the netherlands and is known as the international city of peace and justice. I do not think the song is set in Den Haague and is used as a metaphorical difference to what the voice in this song is seeing during a heavy social event. The two way mirrors and back stabbing in the lyrics suggest opposites and distorted sense. Den haague may be named in cheek or disrespect, or disbelief, vain and irony. 'den haague you scare me good' good being real bad and shaken up. 'Someone hung a coat on the statue of christ and I called for a drink and a vet' using the staue of christ as a coat hanger symbolising a type of blind eye and set of priorities for material possessions and pleasure. The voice in the song feels sick like a dog or an animal and prehaps drenched in an enviroment of seediness, sleeze, garishness and heavy drink. The voice in the song may be thinking about someones innoccence and may hate them for it, be jealous of it, or be wishing it away from them. They may also be singluarly caught up thinking about someone who is on the scene, or are away. The voice itself may be innocent and wide eyed and their thoughts going astray whilst the event places itself around them. I get the impression that the voice in the song is tried, sick, disgusted and paranoid but also electrified and is a deep part of the scene. The high bell that sounds throughout this song sounds the like type used for meditation which alerts, hightens and focuses your senses to a point. |
