This is such a beautiful song- both uplifting and deflating at the same. Personally, this song encapsulates the betrayal and distrust within love, and may also show that feelings of heartbreak. The line 'i catch a paper boy but things dont really change' perhaps presents the lack of excitement within life, maybe implying how life has a sense of meaningless after loss of love. 'Theres no sign of life, theres just a power to charm' perhaps indicates tje lack of genuineness and affection within life, and merely it has just become a series of ingenuine communicating with others, the 'power to charm' rather than forming actual emotional connections. The repetition of the line 'never gonna fall for modern love/ walks beside me', symbolises how he has grown a distrust torwards love, and how its presence continues to linger beside him, however he dismisses it, and allows it to drift away from him'walks on by' However, it shows that the one thing in which you can wholeheartedly trust in life is what you are sure exist 'God and man' , and you even can not put your trust in institutionalised relgion 'no religion' and represent the freedom away from human connections, because the world is so untrustworthy and full of some many imperfections, and merely reminds us that even though the world feels against us, that God always has a love for us, and we merely rely on our own personal connection with God for sustenance. Listening to this song when times are tough allows me to appreciate the wider meanign of reality, and its all a part of God's plan. |

| David Bowie – Time Lyrics | 2 years ago |
| I feel like the lyrics of this song describe the feeling of being a actor and waiting to go on stage, an the way time has a distorted feeling about it-"time is waiting in the wings", the opening line shows the impatience of waiting to perform, and how time is "waiting" could show how it is frozen in the moment before going on stage. Additionally, "the script is you and me", could capture the feeling of rehearsing what you are supposed to say in the wings, hence why he mentions a script. Then the last lines of the song,"We should be on by now" is showing his growing impatience after snapping back to reality after his perception of time has gone back fromm being all distorted " he flexes like a whore" shows how time has become twisted. | |
