R.E.M. – Strange Currencies Lyrics 2 years ago
I interpret this song as very similar to Losing My Religion, almost as a part 2 to that songs story about unrequited love.
Losing My Religion is about being in love with somebody who most likely doesn't feel the same, but being too shy to say something so he sends hints instead and tries to interpret wether or not his crush is responding all the while realizing more and more that they don't feel the same but being unwilling to accept that fact.
Strange Currencies feels to me like a follow up in which he has finally gathered the courage to admit how he feels but gotten turned down, his crush even being mean to him as a result of being tired of his attention on her/him.

"A nod, a little breath
Just to fool myself, to catch myself
And make it real, real"

^This part is the biggest similarity to Losing My Religion for me. Once again he is with these words wanting to fool himself into seeing hints of love in the person he's singing about's actions. He wants to see something that makes the possible relationship real rather than being "just a dream"...
The song even ends with "Make me pray" in that very last line. Coincidence?
Could be, but the way I see it the two songs are related.
