When you read the lyrics and see the video here is how I see this song. This song is sad, it sung by the person who is dying. I get the impression that it is actually a letter they left to the person they loved, maybe their husband or wife. In the second verse it goes "There's a few lines that I have wrote In case of death, that's what I want, that's what I want So don't be sad when I'll be gone There's just one thing I hope you know, I loved you so" the loved one is reading this and the person singing is the writer letting them know this is the end and it sucks because they will no longer be around to love them and spend time with them. This is also confirmed later in the song with the lines "Cause I don't even care about the time I've got left here The only thing I know now is that I wanna spend it With you, with you nobody else here" and they go on to write "I'm sorry but I gotta go, If you'll ever miss me give this song another go" They are saying they know it is the end but they will always have this song/letter and their loved one should read it/sing it when they are sad or missing them. It then finishes with "And I just keep on thinking how you made me feel better And all the crazy little things that we did together In the end, in the end, it doesn't matter" The pain felt in this song is from the dying person and how they know how much pain their loved one is about to go through, because tonight is going to be the loneiest for both of them. Just my two cents. This is one of the greatest rock songs I have heard in a long time. |
