I think this song is about someone with attachment issues or borderline personality disorder or borderline tendencies. She found a good guy. Maybe he was in some ways “too nice.” One of those nice guys. But nonetheless, he meant well and wanted to love her. She wanted to love him and be loved, but something inside of her sabotaged the relationship. Maybe she didn’t know how to love, or was afraid of being abandoned. She gave him moments of love, but then pulled it all away. Like a lightbulb being turned off, she took her love away. Now he’s left with nothing but a memory of her, and she is left with the sadness of hurting someone who she did love, but couldn’t give herself to. |
