@[Song:46262] of Songs This is 17 years too late but IMO Peel is like the phrase keep your eyes peeled, as in keeping watch, His bruised eyes are watching the subject of the song. Face and Heel could be merism ( a literary technique giving two extremes intended to include everything in between.) And refer to the subject's whole body/person. Eaves as in gutters are like the channelling or spouting of water. 'My eyes are crying' -> 'My whole self is overflowing.

Sufjan Stevens – To Be Alone with You Lyrics 2 years ago
Yes, it's about Jesus, that's obvious but I think what a lot of previous commenters have been missing is that it isn't a biography, it isn't an ode, it isn't a worship song. This is a love story about a man that Sufjan loves. It isn't a request or a plea it is an acknowledgement of the sacrifices Jesus made for Sufjan.

Sufjan Stevens – Casimir Pulaski Day Lyrics 2 years ago
I'm going to prefix this by saying that my high school Geography and Earth sciences teacher loved this song. I can't be sad when I listen to it because it's his song and he's amazing.

A lot of the people I've loved have had or have some form of cancer. Just about everyone I know's life is plagued by chronic illness and sickness. When I listen to this song I feel the same way I've felt in hospital waiting rooms, in doctors' offices, and in grief counsellor's rooms. Sufjan is so beautiful and his music expresses human ecstasy throughout grief and melancholy without unhealthily romanticising it like so much music of our time does. A beautiful song by a Beautiful man.
