My own interpretation is that it’s dealing an extremely narcissistic person. Someone that is fake and living in their own alternate universe. Guilty by design she is nothing more than fiction. Basically narcissist don’t change and the persona they pass for personality is just fiction. I have no idea if that’s what song is actually about however after being in an abusive narcissistic relationship this definitely hits home |

After 6 years of being married to a narcissist, this song is so therapeutic to me. After years of blame shifting, gas lighting, cheating physical and emotional abuse. If Mick was a Herero woman saying his ex partner was under “her thumb” it would be equally as empowering and therapeutic. Men need to speak up on abuse we experience from other humans (regardless of the gender of the abuser) although men are most definitely a minority when it comes to experiencing abuse, we are grossly misrepresented, to the point many just assume men and boys are never abused. I think all victims need to unite for a common purpose of uplifting each other. |
