I'm a 47 year old Italian from the Bronx. I was feeling nostalgic and looked up this song as it is one of my favorite rap songs of all time. It came out when I was a kid and was instantly my favorite. I came across this website which is pretty cool. As for the comments about this song not getting a following, I say good. I prefer the things I like to be unique. Anyway, about Dove's lyrics, I believe he's basically talking about doing a concert and song writing. Here's my take on the meaning: The plug two brand with the flavour In the flute watch the sniffin’ ---- This is talking about a drink in a glass, but don't do coke. So a sack of shows in demand I read the diction from the second page ---- Talking about performing on stage and using the teleprompter/script to remember the lyrics. I got the one-two gauge Baritone to the izm fan ----- the gauge is probably one of his stage equipment items, possibly volume level or EQ. He sings in baritone to his fans Trees fall so I can play ground with my ink ---- He writes his lyrics on paper. So let me need ya to my ems go I push the infinite and carry it ----- He takes his lyrics to an extreme and gives it to his fellow MC's My carrier’s the three over one So my pluggins already know ---- Again, talking about technical settings of his stage equipment that his AV team is aware of. Things get a little darker here: Lick shots with moo Catch the boo From a ghost in the heckling crowd ---- I think he's talking about drinking with his girl, then stealing a girl from someone in the crowd who pisses him off. If I give a foot Jack ville caught a spill When a still came from my mouth I brought a head down south ---- I don't think these lyrics are 100% accurate. I think he's saying the "heckler's" (Jack's) girlfriend goes down on him and then Jack kisses her with his "stuff" in her mouth. I don’t check for the noose and the neck So I never tell my ems That finesse is knocking at my door ------------------ He doesn't care what happens to him during his performance, he's just going to be who he is on stage. I choose to run from the rays of the burning sun And dodge a needle washing up upon a sandy shore ------- He doesn't go to the beach, but not sure if it's a euphemism for something else. I think it's straight forward. I bring the element h with the 2 So ya owe me what’s coming when I’m raining on your new parade --- He brings the "H2O" or the rain down. It’s just mind over matter And what matters is That the mind isn’t guided by the punished shade ----- He won't be manipulated by racism. ( I think) But at the very least, won't be manipulated by what the world dictates. I keep the walking on the right side But I won’t judge the next who handles walking on the wrong Cuz that’s how he wants to be No difference, see I wanna be like the name of this song I am ---------- He's going to try to do right, but understands people who make the wrong choices since we all have to walk our own walk. |
