| One of Radiohead's oldest releases but definitely foreshadows future motifs in Thom's writing. Most obviously regarding cars. In this case the metaphor is fairly obvious, if a little clumsy. Thom resents his reliance on the relationship, just as he resents societies reliance are cars. Both the car and the partner are volatile and cause him distress. However he can't shake his dependency, he can't change gears. | |
