Then “she knows what I am but she won’t believe me” to me is him questioning himself because of this “she knows I’m a good guy, she hangs out with me all the time, but I’m trying to prove this all the time but she already knows who I am” She doesn’t want to commit but also doesn’t want to let him go… so my view in the opposite. You seem to take one word and use it in its own context. “I’m not whole” meaning he’s feeling empty from it “You waste it all” meaning she losing all the good that can be in this emotionless limbo, because it effects him, so who is is, his good and light, is fading from it, the thing he’s trying to prove even though she knows it’s there, she’s just not into that, she’s into something else. There’s then moments where she plays the role to like him for who he is so notices her try to look proud but knows she’s not looking for this… Then it “always being like this” is this never ending friendzone he ends up in, because he isn’t looking for the same as him… he keeps trying to gas up someone who got no love for him, in return, he endured getting gaslighted… The chirpy part of the melody is like the jump into the false hope that in itself is it’s own hope… the part of himself knowing himself, the part he’s proven to himself… that party a lot of people don’t care about, but there are people out there that do |
