i recently saw a video of pete sitting on the edge of the stage lipsyncing while patrick solo'd this song. it breaks my heart. pete wentz will never get enough recognition for his artistry and i can only pretend my appreciation is enough. i want a way to get a tattoo of "i'm a stitch away from making it and a scar away from falling apart" that is still simple and small. |

"i thought i loved you, it was just how you looked in the light" is one of my top pete wentz lyrics ever. he constantly captures those indescribable feelings in your chest that come from bipolar and depression. patrick's soul voice just accentuates the passion or lack thereof that mental health problems change your brain to react around. god. i love him. |

i love the theory that this is a song about the contrast between pete's relations between patrick and between mikey way. "true blue" was pete's nickname for patrick on his livejournal while mikey was describes as having "the brownest eyes [pete's] ever seen." pete wentz's lyricism is just constantly heart wrenching. in this song, he captures that tight, cold feeling you get in your lungs when you think about love. if the livejournals are to be trusted, patrick was just a friend who wasn't supposed to be anything more while mikey was a one-sided soulmate situation. i adore this song and pete's way with words. all of you should look into the summer of like situation and then revisit all of infinity on high, fourth of july, and twin skeletons. |
