Bob Dylan – The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest Lyrics 1 year ago
This deep seeming song is nothing more than Dylan stringing together a bunch of disconnected but compelling story bits. I kept thinking I was missing something in that they don't seem to connect very well, until one day I realized... they just don't. Especially the "moral of this story, the moral of this tale..." at the end. I think Dylan is just playing with the notion of a mythic tale, that isn't really anything at all.

Joni Mitchell – Nathan La Franeer Lyrics 1 year ago
I was hoping somebody else already had an interpretation because aspects of the song don't make sense to me. It seems like metaphor for ... a journey of enlightenment. But it also strikes very much as a literal trip from the city to an idylic country retreat. (Like Sisotowbell Lane, on the same album.)
It makes more sense to me as the latter. Because if it's the former I am not sure what Nathan La Franeer represents. A difficulty, but a somewhat nasty one. I don't know. Hoping for some other input.
