Adam Ant – Nine Plan Failed Lyrics 2 years ago
I always thought this song was a condemnation of war. The plan was to make this guy into a great soldier and while he did kill a lot of people, the plan failed. There is a reference to Jesus when he talks about being dragged through the city streets and nail you to a cross. The subject of the song did what he was told, fought in war, was declared defective and ended up being useless to everyone. It's kind of a sad song that I listened to a lot when I was a kid.

Dirty Projectors – Stillness Is the Move Lyrics 2 years ago
I always thought it was about being so in love that you start to question if it's real or not. When you are a child you believe your parents love you and you don't know any better. Even if your parents are not good to you, often kids will know that their parents are supposed to love them. The thing none of the other explanations touch on is the actual title of the song. I always thought that it was someone trying to think of what to do with the doubt they feel about love and coming to the conclusion that they should just accept that they are in love and it is real, so stillness (or staying where you are) is the move, that's what you should do, just feel what you feel.

Rick Springfield – Jessie's Girl Lyrics 2 years ago
I have always thought that Rick Springfield was a creep and a stalker. According to his Wikipedia page, when he was in his 20's, he dated an underage (16) Linda Blair. If you read the subtext of the lyrics, it's pretty obvious that Rick has every intention of stealing a girl from a good friend, which is a crappy thing to do. I wrote a whole essay about it. https://negcap.com/negcap-5/fuckrick/
