This song is hands down my favourite one made by Lush. The cryptic lyrics and the vocals of Miki really shine here unlike any other song on the album in my opinion. But enough fangirling over this song. This is a website dedicated to finding the meaning of songs of course. I think that this song is about a girl who has fallen in love with someone. At first she liked this person a lot. "Breathe with your sigh Makes me high, don't know why Touching your skin Wishing you were within". The yearning for something more, and the abstract depiction of her love for this person. Slowly though the lyrics hint at the girls doubt of the person. The best way to explain this is the line, "And sometimes I think if I look at the phone it may ring And sometimes I worry and fear what tomorrow may bring When you sing When you sing". I love this last line especially because I feel like the "when you sing" part is a great metaphor for her doubt of the person, and the sickening reminder of the person's behaviour that causes her so much doubt. To me I think that it is explaining what this person may have said to her, and the thought of what he or she said is repeating over and over in the girls head. Doubting if this person even is caring about their relationship at all. "You say we're like children so why won't you come out and play?". I also think that's why "And you sing, and you sing" and "When you sing, when you sing" is repeated twice. Further emphasizing her doubt and fear for what tomorrow may bring. . "And sometimes I think if I look at the phone it may ring And sometimes I worry and fear what tomorrow may bring". These lines also fit perfectly for what I believe the lyrics are explaining. She looks at her phone waiting for this person to call, but they never do. It's a useless endeavor, and perhaps she knows that because of the line "And sometimes I think". Because of this doubt, she worries and fears what tomorrow may bring. Then the repetition of the last two lines. A terrible reminder of her doubt, and what causes it. The cause being the actions of the person, perhaps ignoring her or just not being a good person in the relationship at all. That is what I think the song means. Truly an amazing album ender. I love Lush! |

| The changing of the music from this slow rhythm to the screaming vocals caught be so off gard. It's unerving but can't help but still jam out to it. A guilty pleasure honestly. | |
