michael is not a gay song. as far as i know, the members of ff are all "heterosexual", just because they wrote a song about being attracted to a man doesn't make it "gay" (nor will listening to it make you). you'd have to be awfully closed-minded to believe someone is gay just because they find someone of the same sex attractive in the least--not to mention in denial--he says 'you're the only one i'd ever want', but it could very well be from someone else's perspective. nonetheless, aside from the homoerotic overtones, it's an awesome song! whatever inspired the song, ff gets props for having the balls to make a statement like this. as for the rest of you scared little sissies who can't even bare to hear the song, you SHOULD be afraid, because your own latent homosexuality is coming for you! BWAHAHAHAHA! |

As hard as it is for me to actually support "Love" in a music career, I must say, I really like this song. Just to let you all know, she did not write this (at least not on her own), it was co-written with Meredith Brooks, who I'm almost sure takes most of the credit. But still, she has a pretty decent voice, contrary to what record sales from previous albums and the whole actor-turned-singer scenario would indicate. The song is relateable to anyone (which of course would be the point of a potential hit) and it's catchy. Maybe I'll get the single :) |

ummm yea, i agree. do u really think she'd be singing this midtempo, whisical song about being molested? the song is about having someone worthwhile and not realizing what u had until after uve ruined it by using them or taking them for granted ("ive been careless with a delicate man"). fiona writes metaphors; "ive done wrong and i want to suffer for my sins"--she doesnt mean that literally, she's comparing breaking this guy's heart to sinning--being a criminal--and now she feels bad and regrets screwing up a good thing so now she wants to play the martyr to get him back. some of u may be confused because the video was about the exploitation of young girls and she used the opportunity to try to get over her own insecurities about her body image (see mtv2's most shocking videos). but i guess it's interesting to see how others have interpreted this song. |

I've come to love this song so much. It used to play in the Gap and I thought it was alright, but ever since I bought Zero 7's album it's the track I can't seem to stop listening to. I wasn't sure if she was really talking about "watching porn" in that first verse, so I searched for lyrics and got this site, so here I am!
I get that she's reminiscing about a love that she's not with now, but because they are so perfect for each other she has faith that they'll still end up together. I think it's beautiful in a simple, relatable way. It reminds me of Dawson and Joey more than Buffy and Faith (if you wanna use teen drama references--I love both shows); unless you really believe Buffy and Faith are meant to be together in that Tara/Willow sorta way ;). But I get what you're saying, hehe. |
