Lauryn Hill – Tell Him Lyrics 2 years ago
The meaning of the song "Tell Him" by Ms. Hill (by Ms. Lauryn Hill ...

For meaning of the song "Tell Him", look at how it has lyrics that mirror four Bible passages about Christ, the love of Christ, needing Christ and the sacrifice that was made when His (Christ's) life was given to spare or save us.

The song lyrics also mirror the truth that nothing compares to the love that was shown when our lives were spared, by the sacrifice of Christ that was made when our lives were spared. The Bible's John 3:16 tout's the sacrifice of Christ to save the rest of us as the ultimate example of how much God loves us. For meaning, look at how the lyrics of the song "Tell Him" directly repeat a lot of the Bible's 1st Corinthians Chapter 13. Like 1 Corinthians 13, the lyrics mention many things don't matter without love and in that same Bible, the book of 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love, (Christ is Love). I truly believe that this is what the song "Tell Him" means, that it is about Christ, God, who is love... but everyone has their own thoughts : )
It is a beautiful and power-filled song, am thankful for it.

Bible references, abbreviated/summarized here, but pls search & read them to truly understand the verses:
1 Corinthians chapter 13 - love is patient, love is kind...faith but without love...
1 John Chapter 4, Love Comes From God, God is love
John 15:4-5 Without Christ there is nothing at all...
John 3:16 AMPC For God so greatly loved & dearly loved...He gave (Christ)

Ms. Hill's (Ms.) Lauryn Hill's song "Tell Him" is a beautiful and powerful ode, to God, to the love that was shown to us when Christ died on the cross to spare us. There is only one being, ever, said to be love and to have loved us so much that they were given to die so that our lives could be spared - that being is Christ, that God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, Christ to save us. The song says nothing compares to that love which was shown when our lives were spared and to tell Him (Christ who spared our lives by dying for us), I love Him, it also quotes the Bible verses that tell us how to live + love like Christ...

Without Christ there is nothing at all... (John 14:5)

This is what I truly believe is the song meaning of "Tell Him". I was blessed to hug and pray with Ms. Hill in person and we did not discuss this song but what she said during that sacred time reinforces this thought, to know for sure we would have to ask the songwriter.

If you can't ask the songwriter, then see how the song "Tell Him" compares with the Word of God for meaning, check out 1 Corinthians chapter 13 & 1 John chapter 4 (pasted below), the Corinthians chapter is shared above by "Dawnchap".

Nothing without Him John 15:4-5
4 Remain in Me, [a]and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit [b]of itself [c]but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him [d]bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Love Comes From God 1 John Chapter 4:
7 Dear friends, we should love each other, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has become God’s child. And so everyone who loves knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. 10 True love is God’s love for us, not our love for God. He sent his Son as the way to take away our sins.

11 That is how much God loved us, dear friends! So we also must love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us. If we love each other, God’s love has reached its goal—it is made perfect in us.

13 We know that we live in God and God lives in us. We know this because he gave us his Spirit. 14 We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world, and this is what we tell people now. 15 Anyone who says, “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God,” is a person who lives in God, and God lives in that person. 16 So we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love.

God is love. Everyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in them. 17 If God’s love is made perfect in us, we can be without fear on the day when God judges the world. We will be without fear, because in this world we are like Jesus.[a] 18 Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love takes away fear. It is his punishment that makes a person fear. So his love is not made perfect in the one who has fear.

19 We love because God first loved us

@[Raul:45657] Jose I think your right that this song is about love of Christ and the sacrifice on the cross being the greatest + all...and having nothing at all without Him, that greatest love

@[Robinlove:45656] Love this, our interpretations vary slightly but are in solid agreement of thinking that this song is about Christ, love & Christ, the sacrifice on the cross and the love of Him (God & Christ) in heaven being all, truly
