Going against everyones interpretation of this, I actually think she's singing to herself about her toxic relationship with other people and how much she craves to be loved, so she'll do pretty much anything to get people to stay. But eventually, everybody just uses her and leaves anyway. It's kinda self mocking in a way. But eventually everybody pulls away from her and abandons her anyway, no matter how much she tries to keep people around her through people pleasing and 'fixing' people. The line about bending the truth is because she's lying about things to entice people to stick around, because it's the only reason they'll stay. All of her relationships are superficial.
