Agreed, it's awesome. Extremely infectious melody that can play and play in my head for months until something else takes over. Very intriguing lyrics. Such a shame so few comments, was it never a single? That might go some way toward explaining, I think this and Union City Blue top my Blondie list. I'm only playing around here, but I like to think...just going through it... Commotion - nightclub/drug house overdose situation, with inevitable panic Boy in the back - of ambulance? Second attack - of the heart? Wants baby back - wants life back, wants his girlfriend's life back, she's got problems of her own... Quaking - shaking? Belly ache - too many pills? Can't concentrate - you bet. Pick up the beat - pulse? lack of it? Vapour - drifting away from the body, ghost/spirit? Catch...hands - desperate gesticulating, unable to speak Take me back - back to life, to be together again? Beat, shine - pulse restarting, colour in the cheeks? World slows...stops - strange things happen to time perception when pulse stops. Number, eyes, magician - ? mystical visions as life slides away? And onward in similar vein. As I said, only playing here, I wonder if anyone else has thought this way. |
