By just watching the video, the melody of it & the lyrics I've come to this. This is just my interpretation. The secular 9/5 world, the dystopian side of it. The bleakness that earth has become. A majestic authentic home designed & made for us untampered, only to be totally destroyed in the most inhumane way. Humans paying to live, wearing suits when we should be naked, being run & a slave to money. Basically all these materialistic things are heavily portrayed in this song & video.
Before it rains, there are the simulated pedestrians who are looking forward, & the 'woke' real people looking up almost like their appreciating their surroundings & are remembering where they are, not just a city to walk through. When it rains, people put up their umbrellas & run, avoiding the beauty of the weather, the beauty of nature & what comes down form the sky. Then some look up, which I think is them remembering what they're made for, the secular world got to them too much & its almost like catharsis to just feel the rain of the earth on their skin & feel human & alive again.
Simply, it reminds me of humans trapped in a dystopian world |

this song to me is heavily describing how love comes in different forms, how love is supposed to be in its authentic state without being glorified or twisted –This is it.
Also the fact that all the couples shown had a lot of flaws & were not considered physically attractive, compared to the woman Dave was given who was stereotypically beautiful. To me this was like contrasting the difference between spiritual loving & a surface level, very transactional relationship. It's so clear to me, because his arms were tied to hers with chains, indicating that the love is forced. Either way this song Never fails to make me emotional, it truly captures the quintessential essence of spirituality & love that humans are naturally capable of. |

This is about the allowance of manipulation, "you'll break the foot that you're standing on... ill walk with the other one" implys how this person is allowing other manipulator or abuser to hurt her the phrase "ill walk with the other one" tells us that its fine as they find an excuse to carry on w them |

| The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics

I think this song is a sad lament about a lack of validation, romantically. Lets say, a woman wants someone in her life. She goes out her way to find someone to love. "clubs" etc. She's been trying for a long time and when she goes home she "cries and" she "wants to die". Morrissey is depicting a certain someone who craves a s/o but no one will love them. |

In a way, i totally relate to this song. Someone who is broken, is unable to find true love and has just given up. You only turn to your mother, or parents. Whom they comfort you. This is a sad lament of a mothers boy, as someone else said and i agree. He wants someone to love but cant grasp it. He finds comfort in talking to his mother about it. |

this is a touching sentiment I always adhere to. When the song goes "love is natural and real" which is presumably my favorite line.. I always imagine my 5 year old self dancing with my father and mother in my old house. They've split up but I would give anything to dance with them again. |

i think this song isnt particularly about a woman. The use of "mammary" can be seen to interpret a man's peck area. moz was reversing stereotypical rules in which a boy was being sexualised |

| The Smiths – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out Lyrics

i think this song is merely about freedom, astraying from isolation finally and coming out of your shell. Not only that but the thrill of being young. "and they're young and alive" tells us about the aspect of being young. Even though x may be depressed and old, there will always be this "light" in people "that never goes out". |
