| @[Deka7X9:54084] Perfectly described. And Godley and Creme's somewhat absurd and inventive lyrics describe it all even better!!!! | |

I instead always thought of 'the eternal return', honestly. It's nothing to do with doors that are open from your side, which does seem to talk about us getting confused and pushed back in front of choices because we're stuck being convinced we're right, so we can't let things flow the way they actually are (we push those doors while they state 'PULL'...), but the mood the song is set in always seems to me to be quite reminiscent of 'coming from' and 'going to' when instead we think we're moving forward while the more we do so the more we 'wind up where we started from': the KID. We're moving, but the more we move on the more we get to know about that kid we used to be and we still are, our driving force from day one. Don't you feel you do change as life goes by but what drives you is the very same thing as ever? The more I go on the more I seem to get deeper in my earliest thoughts, when I was a kid and I was generally far less confused... Okay, this doesn't deal with death as the song suggests, but let me tell you: he thinks he might be getting to the waterside, then at last he's in front of all those doors and he's BACK to where he started from... 'the eternal return', as I said. |
