This is a platonic relationship. Heard this song at the gym and I really liked it. I mostly agree with mindhuntresson's interpretation of this song. It could be about a relationship with someone. There is definitely a longing and something that is unexpressed, and for whatever reason, it will be something that will never come to be. "Whatever happens will be," This is an interesting line. I think this means there is a little bit of hope. But, he is OK with whatever happens. "But the air outside so soft Is saying everything Everything" -- This means the night air is clear, clean and reveals truths. "And it feels so close Let it take me in Let it hold me so I can feel it say" -- The ending feels like a spiritual realization or epiphany and he doesn't want it to end. On the other hand, this song could very well be about depression and coping with depression. "Nothing's so loud As hearing when we lie The truth is not kind And you've said neither am I" -- This could mean that he is wearing a mask and pretending everything is OK when it really is not OK. "All I want is to feel this way To be this close, to feel the same" -- This could be a fleeting moment when he felt OK and he is close to feeling the same way people without depression feel. "Nothing's so cold As closing the heart when all we need Is to free the soul But we wouldn't be that brave I know" -- He needs to free himself to what he's really feeling. "And it won't matter now Whatever happens will be Though the air speaks of all we'll never be It won't trouble me" -- The air speaks the truth of what he will never be, but he accepts his depression and copes with it. "And it feels so close Let it take me in Let it hold me so I can feel it say" -- There's a lot of hope and longing in these lines.. like a spiritual awakening. Perfect way to end the song. |
