@[octobersnackbar:45011] what better way to audibly represent these topics which are of theological Intrigue? The speed and power are innovations in their own right (arguably early inspirations on techno and Electronica) and the odd time signatures, complex rhythms, moody themes and unconventional song structures are reminiscent of prog and classical (Wagner, Holst, etc). I find it very compelling. They simply continued a tradition of paying dues to the devil in pop music, be it AC/DC or Robert Johnson. Or even XTC in Dear God. Although XTC eschews the mythology altogether making Deicide ironically more religious. Bytch. |

Glen posits Manson as an agent In Satan's army. He also explores the paradox of creation and sin. Satan (and his followers) are examples of God's divine inspiration though they are His perfect antagonist. He killed Sharon Tate with the baby inside her. Does he recognize that symbolism? Other Deicide songs discuss the sacrifice of the newly born don't they? |

Is this song about suicide as an act of dissavowing creation and in turn pledging allegiance to Satan? What the hell does "I am Crucifix" mean? Is the crucifix a symbol of sin and therefore allegiance to Satan? To kill one's self is to surrender to the dark lord. The ultimate dissavowal of creation. Wicked. |
