This song was my antidote for all of the craziness, alienation and loneliness of my freshman year in college. I think it served that purpose for many in my generation. There were terrible things were going on in society like the war in Vietnam… There were personal issues that were out of my control….But “ it’s only castles burning” or it’s just life. If you want to feel better you need to connect with some likeminded people, find love …save yourself first. |

This song has always been a favorite of mine. For me it represents moving away from old friends in a time when there was no electronic way to keep in touch, and long distance phone calls were very expensive. “ Am I still important to you?” The song seems to ask. Always makes me sad when I hear it but in a good way. Sometimes songs just say what is in your heart. |
