The Chtulhu mythos was created by horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, not Crowley. There are many short stories and a couple of novellas that feature beings and deities from the mythos. In turn it has inspired many bands, several rather bad movies, and a few equally disappointing video games. On the while though the books are great. As for the meaning of the song there is definitely a mythos influence but I wonder if they might be a useful metaphor for something more personal. For me it has undertones of struggle against depression and suicidal thoughts, and the ultimate loss in that battle. |
