Stevie Rey was a remarkable, one of a kind, talent. Who, like Jimi, was taken from us way too soon. They both had so much more in store for us, musically. It always feels so unfair when considering the "what ifs" left dangling when a life is cut short. Little Wing is a timeless, and ensorcelling masterpiece. I never understood why Jimi cut it short. Evidently Stevie thought this to, wanted to bring the rest of it to light, and had the spiritual inspiration, the musical wherewithal, and the chops to pull it off. This is a gift to us all. Stevie reveled Little Wing, in it's instrumental entirety, just as Jimi would have done, and he did so superbly! The only appropriate comparison, I find here, is while Stevie recorded the longer version, Jimi gave us the lyrics. Thanks to you, both, and RIP! |
