Bob Seger – Still The Same Lyrics 1 year ago
On the surface the song is about a male singing about another male. Say like a friend or relative of Kenny Rogers' Gambler. But it does not take much to turn the song around and see it as a male singing about an old female acquaintance or maybe friend or (probably brief) lover. Therefore either interpretation is valid for this song. That covers that disagreement but what both interpretations have in common is that the singer seems to have moved on in life in some way but the subject seems not to have.

Laura Branigan – Self Control Lyrics 3 years ago
My interpretation may be a little off but here goes anyway :

The lyric is clearly about a nightlife person but this person may have been a morning (or working) person at one time in business or entertainment but "I haven't got the will to try and fight against a new tomorrow" means that times have changed and her job has taken a back seat to the competition.

"You help me to forget to play my role" does not have to be about another person, but just the atmosphere of the nighttime overtaking the daytime.

The something that is breaking thru the wall "wearing white" could be Bob Barker from the short-run show That's My Line, only in this night vision he is wearing not his black suit but his white one from The Price Is Right -

Just another example of the world of the day turning into the world of the night - and will one really be any better than the other, or just two contrasted versions of the same thing?

Laura Branigan – Gloria Lyrics 3 years ago
Song seems open to interpretation more than is usual for hit songs. Especially the line : You really don't remember, was it something that he said? Someone Gloria knows or knew must have said something to her that got her to reflect on her life but she really does not want to remember it too clearly. Probably something about being too needy and clinging to guys all the time. Not enough of a life of her own.

The Human League – Mirror Man Lyrics 3 years ago
Seems to be about a guy that is high on himself and expect others - his ex-lover in particular - to be more like him in order to improve. If this guy were really a fan of others then he would try more to accept them as they are, so thinking of himself as a people fan is probably supposed to be a touch of irony. In the opening stanza the relationship appears to already have come to an end so the lyric could be going back in time as in progresses, reminiscing about recent events in a disjointed sort of way.

David Bowie – Modern Love Lyrics 3 years ago
I'm standing in the wind - could mean feeling on the outside of things having to rely on just a newspaper for information but not getting anything like suicidal about it, hence - But I never wave bye-bye.

(Modern love) walks on by - is something singer may have no problem with on an ordinary day but sometimes wishes for something more lasting or permanent, hence - (Modern love) gets me to the church on time.

But this kind of routine terrifies the singer and makes him want to go back to the party life.Hence - a cycle of not being able to find a middle ground in his lifestyle socially. There is no "religion" in a casual relationship and there's no "confession/honesty" in a relation with the church.

Never gonna fall for (Modern love) - this could mean that singer is done trying in these ways but may consider another if it is ever socially possible to do so.
