Starset – Let It Die Lyrics 3 years ago
I don't believe this song is about death, I believe it uses death as a metaphor. I think this song is about loving some who is an addict, and they feel the person is already dead, and they wish they could bring them back

"I cut you into pieces
Searching for your imperfections
I had plans to make you whole"

- in this part, I think he meant he tore the person down to try to get them to see who they are, and that he hurt them in the process when all he was doing was trying to help.

"But all my threads couldn't stop the bleeding
There's nothing left, but I'm not leaving
When all I know is you"

- When a loved one, or a lover is an addict the entire world tells us to leave them. They say "they're not going to change, you have to leave them and move on." and in this line he's saying that he can't because that person is all he knows.

"I've been looking for a way
To bring you back to life
And if I could find a way,
Then I would bring you back tonight"

- in this line he is using death as a metaphor as he feels the person is no longer with him.

"I'd make you look, I'd make you lie
I'd take the coldness from your eyes
But you told me, if you love me
Let it die"

- in this part he's creating imagery of reanimating someone from the dead. He'd make them see what he did for them, he would make them lie down to not over exert themselves, he would provide warmth for them to get rid of the coldness. Also, I think he's using this as metaphor for addiction also. Like he tried to get the addict to look and see what they've become, and like he's made the addict lie to their loved ones to maintain the image of everything being ok, so that no one intervenes.

"Your eyes stare right through me
Ignoring my failed attempts to
Breathe back life into your veins
But I can't start your cold heart beating
You're so far gone, but I'm not leaving
When all I know is you"

-he's talking about how the person is so far gone, they just stare past him and ignore his attempts to help, yet he refuses to leave them.

"And you left me more dead
Than you'll ever know
When you left me alone"

-while the addict still alive, he feels abandoned. As the person is not really there.

"But you told me, if you love me
Let it die"

- The sometimes inevitable end of being in love with an addict is when the addict chooses the drug over you, and no longer wants to hear your plights for change. So, they ask to just let them go, and forget about them. In this instance, I believe this is what "Let it die" means. I think it means "let this love die."
