The Gathering – In motion #1 Lyrics 2 years ago
This song is unique as the narrator is atypical and it's a genuine romantic song with morbid undertones. The lyrics play with double meanings and metaphores. The narrator is asking her lover (or sugesting he will do so) to kill her and leave her in the water "against the stream" so her body will be "In Motion" and "a hundred world will see" her passing by. It's likely a methapor ("use your mind") of how some love relationship can be hurtful, painful or even dangerous.

Death – Zero Tolerance Lyrics 2 years ago
@R0TuSon Crystal Mountain is very much about religion. Chuck didn't need to be openly hostile towards it, he could make some clever criticism about the social aspect of religions, not necessarily faith. I don't think this one is specifically about gods, there are some references though. On the other hand i would definitely exclude the possibility he was a christian as you and some authors seem to suggest (for what purpose, once could ask): he was likely an atheist or agnostic, he said in well-known interviews he didn't know anything about the afterlife and believed this is Hell, some people being the real demons. And i agree with him.

Kyuss – Thumb Lyrics 3 years ago
The lyrics are: "Mouth open and kneelin', your sister caught in this well" not "my foreman...". That line clearly doesn't make any sense.

It follows the same concept and theme of other Kyuss songs, specifically Conan Troutman. The literary device in these songs is always a direct dialogue between the protagonist and his drugs. It simply describes the act of setting plant matter ablaze, most likely weed, and getting high. The well could easily be the bowl of the pipe, any kind of. He/they don't care about how the leaves are feeling as they're burning, it all turns from solid matter to pure thought, hence living in thought. There could also be some reference to other intoxicating plant such as cacti but you don't really use a lighter for those. "You're ON desert ground" could simply mean he discarded the content of the pipe. There's also some animosity, she "tried" to let him down somehow but this could be anything.

Kyuss lyrics are somewhat cryptic and can often be interpreted in a few different ways but they're really not that complicated as some people assume. They just have the right words, sometimes pure poetry, and the right notes to describe simple things.

Kyuss – Conan Troutman Lyrics 3 years ago
Best anagram for Conan Troutman would be "contaminator" leaving one n out, otherwise it could be some guy they knew. It's pretty obscure.

The lyrics are obviously about smoking weed: "Feed my lung, flower seed" / "Burning my brain and burning my teeth" / "Taking your life from off you / Now you're gone and i'm free" = as the herb burns out he's getting high, plain simple.

@[Hopefiend:44005]: unlikely this is about opium, it's another declaration of love for grass ("Live the love that i have for you"), just like Gardenia, while 100° is totally about cocaine and so on. Opium is not that common or popular among young people anyway, much harder to find, and a love song about something you smoke once in a while is a bit of a stretch. Only (late) reference about opiates came with QOTSA's Feel Good Hit of The Summer where vicodin is mentioned, and it makes more sense.
