I think it is spectacular because it showcases R.E.M. being weird and trippy. I’m not sure this song was supposed to make any sense, but if it was supposed to it’s lost on me, and for that reason (plus the musicality and humor) I love this song. It was meant for “Out of Time” and I can kind of see why they didn’t think it fit. |

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard about someone’s nostalgic memory of something very personal, the way he sings the lyrics, you can tell it was something that happened to him and him alone. I’ve never heard lyrics like it in any other song by anyone. |
